Sound of Marbles Battiscopa — matching skirtings in two lengths and both finishes. A 7.5x60 to suit the 60x60 and 30x60 tiles, and a 7.5x74 to align with the 74x74 and 74x148 slabs, so the skirting joints line up with the floor.

Sound of Marbles takes marble apart. Where a conventional marble-effect tile reproduces a slab, this one cuts the stone into diagonals, curves and blocks and reassembles them — the decors were drawn by Neropaco for Fioranese, and there are six geometric subjects that combine with the plain tiles or with each other.

All five marbles are made in all four combinations, so whichever tile and finish you have specified, the skirting matches.

The five marbles

Beige Antico is a warm cream with soft movement, the easiest of the five to live with. Rosa Cipria is a powder pink with grey veining — unusual, and the one that makes the collection distinctive. Screziato Vivace is a lively white with strongly mottled grey. Nero Fondo is a deep black with white veins. Verde Intenso is a saturated green, the boldest choice in the range.

Which length

Match the skirting to the tile so the vertical joints coincide — the 7.5x60 with a 60x60 or 30x60 floor, the 7.5x74 with a 74x74 or 74x148. Allow roughly two pieces per 1.2m of wall on the 60, or one and a half on the 74, plus one per external corner.

Why use a porcelain skirting

It is the right detail wherever a timber skirting would be the weak point — wet rooms, utility runs, any floor that gets mopped — and it keeps the marble reading as one material up the wall rather than stopping at a painted line.

See it before you buy

A skirting has to match the floor exactly, and matching a marble effect across the matt and polished finishes from a screen is guesswork. Samples of all five marbles are available to order, and the range is on display at our luxury interiors showroom in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. Our team can help with combinations, quantities, trims and adhesive specification. Call 01782 617517 or email sales@homeofclay.co.uk for a quotation or to arrange a visit.
