Montpellier by Fioranese — aged French limestone in porcelain, in four tones from chalk to dark brown. Three rectified sizes that can be combined into mixed-course layouts, and a set of L-shaped step elements that lets a floor turn a level change without a separate nosing.

Montpellier reproduces an aged French limestone — the kind of floor that has been walked on for two hundred years and worn unevenly for it. The surface carries that irregularity deliberately: shading shifts across the face, and no two tiles read quite the same.

The same four colours run outdoors in a matching Esterno and a 20mm paver, so an interior floor can carry through to a terrace on the same tone.

Colours

Talco is the palest, a cool chalk-white that opens up a dark room. Sabbia is a warm sand, the most forgiving of the four alongside oak and brass. Cenere is a mid ash grey and the most architectural. Moka is the deepest, a warm brown that reads almost as a dark stone flag.

Specification

  • Material: Porcelain stoneware, body-coloured (EN 14411:2012 Annex G Group BIa GL)
  • Thickness: 9mm
  • Shade variation: pronounced — the collection is built on it. Mix from several boxes when laying
  • Finish: Naturale Rettificato (matt rectified)
  • Sizes: 60.4x90.6, 60.4x60.4 and 30.2x60.4 rectified, plus a battiscopa and three L-shaped step elements
  • Application: Indoor floors and walls; suitable for underfloor heating
  • Health: hypoallergenic surface, non-porous and free of harmful emissions
  • Durability: frost resistant, fireproof, colourfast and unaffected by UV
  • Sustainability: LEED® compliant, made in Italy

Laying the three sizes

The 60.4x90.6, 60.4x60.4 and 30.2x60.4 share a module, so they can be mixed in a random-course or opus pattern rather than laid as a single grid — which is how an old stone floor actually looks. The 30.2x60.4 on its own suits a smaller room or a bathroom; the 60.4x90.6 is the one to reach for on an open floor.

Special trims

A 7.5x60.4 battiscopa in all four tones, plus three L-shaped step elements — a straight Lineare ad Elle and left- and right-handed corners — for wrapping a step or a plinth in the same face as the floor. All sold per piece.

See it before you buy

A heavily shaded stone effect is the hardest thing to judge from a single photograph, because any one image shows you one face out of many. Samples of all four colours are available to order, and the range is on display at our luxury interiors showroom in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. Our team can help with quantities, trims and adhesive specification. Call 01782 617517 or email sales@homeofclay.co.uk for a quotation or to arrange a visit.
