Fioranese Kintsugi Japan-Mix Patchwork Porcelain Tiles

Japan-Mix is the patchwork version of the Japan decor — eighteen different faces per colour, boxed assorted and laid at random. The same full-gloss glaze, the same 20.13x20.13 format, but the pattern shifts from dense geometry to almost-plain across the wall.

Kintsugi is the Japanese practice of repairing broken ceramics with molten gold so the join becomes the most valuable part of the object. Fioranese have taken that idea onto porcelain — a soft, hand-worked concrete ground crossed by raised metallic seams that catch the light. The collection won the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award and was selected for the ADI Design Index, which for a tile range is unusual.

It is the more characterful of the two glossy decors, and the one that reads as genuinely handmade rather than printed.

Colours

Japan-Mix B&W runs eighteen monochrome faces from dense geometry to near-plain, the most versatile of the three. Japan-Mix Rust shifts from saturated terracotta to barely-there. Japan-Mix Blue ranges from bold indigo pattern to open white ground.

Ordering assorted faces

Fioranese do not guarantee a minimum number of each of the eighteen faces in a given box. In practice that means ordering the whole job in one go and dry-laying before fixing, so you can spread the busier faces evenly rather than finding six of them together in one corner. Topping up later will not reliably give you the same spread.

The matching 7.5x60.4 battiscopa is listed with the plain Kintsugi tiles in Moonlight, Fog, Storm and Darkness, and works alongside this decor wherever the two are laid together.
