Kintsugi by Fioranese — the calm ground the whole collection is built on. Four body-coloured greys with the soft, hand-worked surface of polished concrete, quiet enough to run wall-to-wall in four sizes from a 20x20 up to a 90x90.

Kintsugi is the Japanese practice of repairing broken ceramics with molten gold so the join becomes the most valuable part of the object. Fioranese have taken that idea onto porcelain — a soft, hand-worked concrete ground crossed by raised metallic seams that catch the light. The collection won the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award and was selected for the ADI Design Index, which for a tile range is unusual.

These plain tones are designed to be laid with the collection's Hibi and Japan decors, which carry the gold seams and Japanese pattern. Used on their own they read simply as a very good concrete-effect floor.

Colours

Moonlight is the lightest, a warm chalky off-white that reads almost as plaster in daylight. Fog is a cool mid grey with a powdery cast, the most forgiving of the four alongside oak and brass. Storm is a deeper warm grey with visible movement, dark enough to ground a room without closing it in. Darkness is a near-black charcoal that throws every reflected highlight into relief.

Sizes

The 90x90 and 60.4x120.8 are the ones to reach for on an open floor — fewer joints, and the concrete graphic gets room to move. The 60.4x60.4 is the workhorse and the best value per m² in the range. The 20.13x20.13 is a wall and small-room size, and the one that sits naturally alongside the glossy Japan decors in the same format.

Delivery is calculated on these weights, so a full pallet of 60.4x60.4 is a little over a tonne. Packaging figures are indicative and may vary.

Special trims

A 7.5x60.4 battiscopa is made in all four tones in Naturale Rettificato to match the rectified sizes. Sold per piece, it is the right detail wherever a timber skirting would be the weak point — wet rooms, utility runs and any floor that gets mopped. Allow roughly two pieces per 1.2m of wall, plus one per external corner.

Ordering & delivery

  • Minimum order: 5m²
  • Sold by: the m² for field tiles and decors; per piece for battiscopa
  • Prices: inclusive of VAT
  • Full pallet: reduced rate applied automatically on m² lines — battiscopa is a special piece and is not eligible
  • Delivery: 4–6 weeks, ordered from Italy. Delivery is charged after purchase, calculated on the weight of your order — we will confirm the cost with you before despatch
  • Allow 10% over your measured area for cuts and future repairs

See it before you buy

A matt concrete surface is one of the harder things to judge on screen, and the step between Moonlight, Fog, Storm and Darkness is easier to read in person, particularly under artificial light. Samples are available to order, and the range is on display at our luxury interiors showroom in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. Our team can help with quantities, trims and adhesive specification. Call 01782 617517 or email sales@homeofclay.co.uk for a quotation or to arrange a visit.
