Fioranese Fio. Rainforest Botanical Porcelain Mural

Fio. Rainforest by Fioranese, curated by Davide Tonelli — not a tile so much as a mural. Six 60x120 pieces combine into a single 180x240 composition of dense tropical foliage, printed edge to edge so the leaves run continuously across the joins.

It is Fioranese's answer to the botanical trend, and it is deliberately a one-wall proposition: a finished 1.8 by 2.4 metre picture behind a bath, a bed or a reception desk, rather than a material you run by the square metre.

How it is sold

Rainforest is sold per composition, not per square metre. One composition is six individually coded and boxed pieces that assemble into the full 180x240 image — 4.32m² of coverage. The pieces are not interchangeable and there is no repeat: each one occupies a specific position in the picture, so a composition cannot be split across two walls or partially ordered. Order whole compositions only.

Planning the wall

Measure before you order. The composition is a fixed 180x240 and it cannot be cropped without cutting through the image, so the wall needs to accommodate it or be planned around it — framed by plain tile, or set within plaster like a picture. Check the piece codes against the layout diagram before fixing anything: the six pieces look similar in the box and assembling them out of order ruins the image. Dry-lay the whole composition on the floor first. The polished finish wants a narrow joint and a grout matched close to the darkest tone.

• Delivery: 4–6 weeks, ordered from Italy. Delivery is charged after purchase, calculated on the weight of your order — we will confirm the cost with you before despatch
• No allowance needed for cuts, since the composition is supplied complete — but do order a spare composition if the wall is critical, as matching a single replacement piece later is not possible

See it before you buy

A photograph of a mural is a photograph of a photograph, and it tells you almost nothing about how it will read at full size on your wall — the foliage is close to life scale, which is a very different experience from a thumbnail. The polished finish also adds depth that flattens completely on screen.
