Fio. Block by Fioranese, curated by Davide Tonelli — a plain body-coloured wall tile that exists for one reason: colour. Four neutrals and three saturated tones, in two square-derived formats, with no pattern, no relief and nothing to distract from the glaze itself.
Fio. is Fioranese's design line, and Block is the most reductive thing in it. Because the colour runs through the body rather than sitting on the surface, a cut edge shows the same tone as the face — which matters on a wall where you can see the edges at a reveal or an external corner.
Colours
Bianco, Avorio, Grigio and Grafite are the neutrals, running from a clean white through to a near-black, and they sit in the standard price band. Biking Red is a deep, slightly brick-toned red with real weight. Eden Green is a forest green that reads as traditional rather than fashionable. Honey is a soft nostalgic yellow. Those three carry a small premium.

Walls only
Worth stating plainly, because a plain matt tile looks as though it ought to go anywhere: Block is a wall tile and is not rated for traffic. Pair it with a floor tile from elsewhere in the range — Fioranese photograph it against Land of Italy.
Two formats, one colour
Every colour is made in both sizes, so the interesting move is combining them rather than choosing between them: a 30.2x60.4 field with a 30.2x30.2 band, or the two formats in different colours on the same wall. Fioranese's own photography does exactly that — Avorio with Biking Red, Biking Red with Grafite. Because both share the 30.2 dimension the joints align cleanly, which is what makes the mix work.

See it before you buy
Solid colour is deceptively hard to buy from a screen — every monitor renders a saturated red or green differently, and Biking Red and Eden Green in particular are deeper in reality than most screens suggest. The neutrals have the opposite problem: Bianco and Avorio look identical in a thumbnail and are clearly different in daylight. Samples of all seven are available to order, and the range is on display at our luxury interiors showroom in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.
