The Coalbrook Farnolls Tall Unit 1600mm Left Hand FT916L brings the Farnolls collection to a bathroom installation. Named after Thomas Farnolls Pritchard, the visionary behind Ironbridge Gorge, Farnolls celebrates the union of traditional joinery and innovative design. Tapered lap joints on the drawer front, fully framed in real wood, and a large single drawer with a glass-sided interior. Available in one specialised wood finish: Smoked Oak, chosen to portray the industrial heritage from which the Coalbrook brand was born.

Specifying the FT916L

A tall storage unit rather than a vanity, with glass shelving inside and interior shelf placement considered rather than incidental. Left-hand and right-hand versions differ only in the hinge side.

Integrated interior lighting is available as an upgrade on the drawer units, though not on the cloakroom sizes. Worth deciding at the point of order rather than later.

Farnolls draws directly from the industrial architectural heritage that defines Coalbrook. The smoked oak was chosen for meaning rather than trend, and the extra-depth units are the only route in the collection to an undermount basin with a quartz countertop.

Choosing a basin

The vanity unit price excludes the basin, so this is a second decision rather than an afterthought. There are three routes:

• Port ceramic (gloss) — A soft bowl shape in classic British Standard White, with a fully glazed slit overflow. Available with 0, 1 or 3 tap holes.
• Float mineral marble (matt) — Silica-free, made using 100% renewable energy and fully recyclable, built on Dolomite rock. Also 0, 1 or 3 tap holes.
• Quartz countertop — Premium quartz in Beach Blanket, Midnight Mill or Whisper White, supplied with 0 tap holes as a base for a separate basin.

The tap hole count is the thing to settle early, because it decides which brassware will fit. Tell us the basin and the tap you have in mind and we will confirm they work together before anything is ordered.
