Collection: Hallway Tiles

A hallway is the first thing anyone sees and the surface that gets the most traffic, usually while wet.

Everything in this collection is an indoor floor tile rated R10 or better, which is the point at which a floor stays safe underfoot when someone walks in from the rain. We've deliberately kept outdoor paving out of it — a 20mm porcelain slab is floor-rated too, but it isn't a hallway tile.

Patterned tiles belong here more than anywhere else in the house. A hallway is a space you pass through rather than sit in, which means it can carry a bold encaustic or geometric design that would be overwhelming in a living room. Victorian and Edwardian houses in particular suit them, and the porcelain versions give the look without the maintenance of real encaustic cement.

If the hallway runs into a kitchen or living room, consider continuing the same tile through rather than changing at the threshold. Fewer transitions make a narrow hall feel longer.

Stone and wood effects are the quieter option and work well where you want the hall to recede and let the rooms off it do the talking.
